Dole Ocean Cargo Express serves Dole Fresh Fruit, the world’s largest supplier of bananas and other tropical, deciduous and citrus fruits. Dole Fresh Fruit has been a Port of Wilmington customer since 1982, and in 1998 renewed its contract with the port for an additional 10 years.

In January 2000, Dole's newest generation of banana vessels, the M/V Dole Chile and M/V Dole Colombia, began weekly service to Wilmington, carrying 1000 refrigerated containers each. Dole carries tropical fruit imports to Wilmington as well as exports of various general cargo. In their weekly voyage, Dole's vessels make calls in Puerto Limón, Costa Rica, Puerto Cortes, Honduras and Port Everglades, Florida.
